Introduction

Ramesses II was the greatest pharaoh in both architecture and battle. The most memorable achievement was the Abu Simbel and his mortuary temple at Thebes. Ramesses II's burial site was at the Valley Of The Gates Of The Kings. He was the 3rd ruler of the 19th dynasty.

Ramesses II

Ramesses II ruled for 67 years. He lived to be 92 years old and founded a new capital called Piramesse in the eastern Delta. He is very famous today for building great monuments and obelisks. He had at least 50 wives, but his favourite wife was Nefertari. He also had 50 sons and 53 daughters. He was the ruler of upper and lower Egypt.
