Weekly Update

Flambeau High School

From the Principal's Office

Congratulations are in order for Flambeau's Academic Decathalon team! The team braved the poor weather on Monday to travel to CESA 10 in Chippewa Falls to take the preliminary exam. The team found out today that they qualified for the Regional Competition, which will take place on January 9. This is a wonderful accomplishment, especially as our students got a late start and since Academic Decathalon is an extra-curricular activity here at Flambeau, while other schools offer it as a course. Congratulations to Ms. Griesbach and her wonderful team!

Weekly Attendance Update

One of our goals this year for the Junior High and High School is to increase our attendance. Each week, we’ll take a look at our attendance data. Remember, research has proven that regular attendance at school is directly related to achievement!

Flambeau School Veteran's Day Program

Thank you to all that attended and assisted with Wednesday's program to honor our Vets. Presentations by students, local veterans, and performances by the Flambeau band & choir showed appreciation and taught students about the sacrifices made. For our parents who are veterans as well, thank you for your service!

Book of the Week: "The Hiding Place"

This week's book recommendation comes courtesy of Finance Secretary, Dianne Verdegan. She recommended "The Hiding Place", by Corrie Ten Boom. This is a true story about a woman who survived the Holocaust. Dianne recommends it because it is a story of survival, courage, strength, and forgiveness.

Recipe of the Week: Pecan Crusted Tilapia

Tired of the same old thing for dinner? Try this easy, zesty recipe for pecan crusted tilapia, from the kitchen of Dianne Verdegan:

4 6 oz boneless tilapia filets

1/2 tsp seasoned salt

1/4 tsp chili powder

1/4 tsp adobo seasoning

2 Tbsp cold butter

1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped

Arrange fish on a baking sheet. In a bowl, combine pecans, seasoned salt, chili powder, and adobo seasoning. Cut the butter into 6 equal parts. Place one pat a piece directly on the length of the tilapia. Cut remaining 2 pats into pea-sized pieces and mix by hand into the pecan mixture. Sprinkle the pecan mixture over the fish. Bake at 425 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
