What's Happening in PBS?
Week of 2-9-2/13
For this week in PBS, we are still focusing on Protein Synthesis in the cell.
On Monday we will be continuing on with the Genetic Code modeling (see pictures below). Then due to scheduling on Tuesday we will be working through what its like to change one nucleotide and the effect it has on the resulting protein.
On Wednesday; I'll be absent for 5th and 6th hour to work with our Healthe Foundations Competition kids and the students in class will be having a workday to finish up the Genetic Code and Changing One Nucleotide Assignments.
When we all get back together on Thursday, we will be reviewing the unit 3 work so far and then they will take their test on Friday.
As for HOSA this week...
- Monthly Meeting after school on Monday
- Monthly Meeting during collab on Tuesday (these are the same - only attend one)
- Guest speaker (Kenneth Cole) from UMKC after school on Wednesday to talk to the kids about what they need to be doing now to have a competitive application to college/medical school. *If you can't attend this one - he will also be here on the 18th to do the same speech* The meeting will go from 2-3pm and if you have a student who travels to the High School that wants to attend, I am happy to email their 7th hour teacher to excuse them from class so that they can attend the whole speech.
- T-Shirts should be in by the end of the week, if I can get them out to the kids by Thursday; we will have our first t-shirt day on Friday.
- Volunteer Nights at St. Marys are going great! See some pictures below from our visit! The kids have enjoyed themselves and so have the residents!
- And check out pictures from our Pie A Principal Fundraiser - we send $115 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society from a fundraiser we did during HOSA week and we finally were able to do the Pie in the Face! Way to be good sports, principals!
