Wind is the sideways movement of air. The air moves from a high pressure to an area of low pressure.
Wind is caused by differences in air pressure.

- a global wind blows the same direction every time

- earths rotation makes the global winds curve the way the winds are curved is called the Coriolis effect

- sailors used these winds to help them move there cargo to other country's to trade goods

- jet steams are located in the upper troposphere
- airplanes use jet streams to travel faster and save fuel
Prevailing Easterlies
- prevailing easterlies blow from the north and south pole
- prevailing easterlies blow cold air away from the poles
- prevailing easterlies are located toward the west
