News from Ms. Rozeske's Art Room
As summer quickly approaches, the Art Room is revving up for our annual display of student artwork at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair School Exhibit! This is an exciting time where student artwork from each grade is chosen and entered to represent our school. The Northern Wisconsin State Fair School Exhibit will be on display at the fairground from July 12-16, 2017 . The artwork is juried or awarded; 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or honorable mention. At Cadott Elementary we always place top three for our spectacular artwork! Some students will be sent home with an Art Award. This means that your child's artwork was chosen to represent our school. I encourage you to visit the School Exhibit at the fair to see your child's artwork on display!
Feel free to contact me with any questions,
-Ms. Rozeske

1st Grade teacher Mrs. Lien receives the National Endowment for the Humanities Grant
Penny Lien, first grade teacher at Cadott Elementary, has received a $1200.00 grant to attend the National Endowment for the Humanities Landmark Workshop: Crafting Freedom in Durham, North Carolina this summer. Penny applied for the grant so she could enhance her knowledge of entrepreneurs of color who helped to make our country great. She was inspired by a young man in her classroom who wanted to research a person of color for his inquiry project, a project that requires the students to dig deeply and find out things that they want to know about their person of choice. Penny wrote that she has not been involved in working with a very diverse group of students simply because of the location of where she lives. She felt that her perspective is somewhat sheltered, but deeply desires to expand her understanding and pass that understanding on to her students.
The Thomas Day Education Project (TDEP) & the Crafting Freedom Initiatives are comprised of a group of educators, scholars, and ordinary citizens throughout the United States committed to improving the teaching of African-American history and culture in K-12 education, in museums and at historic sites. They focus on making this content available to Americans who can gain the most benefit from knowing it, such as teachers. Participants spend over 40 intensive hours during the day and several evenings in lectures/presentations, in exploration and study at the landmarks, in instructional development activities and in independent study or research.
Mrs. Miley and Ms. Lockbaum donned their red noses, in honor of National Red Nose Day to help underprivileged children on Thursday May 25th.

Cadott Elementary School Library is hosting a special summer reading program
This summer the Cadott Elementary School Library wants to help your child use reading to build a better world!
To help promote reading with students in our district over the summer months, the Cadott Elementary School Library will host a special summer reading program that will run from June 12th-August 17th to help your child keep active with and reward him/her for reading this summer. Students who participate in the “Build a Better World” reading program will earn unique dog tags for completing the program’s reading challenges. These dog tags will help students celebrate and show others all of the reading they have completed over the summer. Students who complete all of the summer reading challenges will be entered into a drawing to win a Kindle Fire Tablet!
For more information on the summer reading program, check out the “Build a Better World” Summer Reading Program letter and reading log/tracker today!
To enroll your child in the summer reading program (even if he/she will not attend summer school sessions), fill out the “Build a Better World” Summer Reading Program Sign-Up form OR send a note to Mr. Kotek in the Elementary LMC that your child would like to enroll in the program by Friday, May 26!
