Chicks for First Grade - Donations
Our 1st Grade classes have the opportunity to participate in a wonderful program called “Rent-a-Coop.” For one month, we would have a cage, two baby chicks, an incubator and seven eggs. The children will watch the eggs develop and hatch. We would like to rent the coops from April 6 - May 4th. This will coincide with our science unit on animals. Our classes participated in this program last year and it was a huge success!
We need your help - Would you consider making a donation to help bring this program to our students? A small donation of $10 - $20 (or any amount at all) would help cover the expense and enable us to provide each classroom with a coop/incubator/chicks and eggs of their own. This is completely optional, but it you are interested in being a sponsor, please send your contribution back in your child’s folder this week. Please label the money “chicks.” We need all donations by Feb. 26th. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your teacher.

When Winter Comes
by Laura Numeroff
When winter comes I love to skate.
I get there early and I stay quite late.
I don't go too fast, it's all very new.
There are so many things I wish I could do.
I know how to glide and spin around,
But sometimes I end up on the ground.
One day I'll do a figure eight!
When winter comes I love to skate!
The Little Snowman
Who had a carrot nose.
Along came a rabbit,
And what do you suppose?
That hungry ittle rabbit,
Looking for his lunch,
Ate the little snowman's nose -
Nibble, nibble, crunch!
