GRADE K-2ND: Pancakes, Pancakes Reading Program

PURPOSE OF THE OUTING: SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL

STUDENTS MAY CLAIM 60 minutes of language arts, and 60 minutes of history on the OLS!


Learning Objectives:
  • Students will listen to a reading from the Eric Carle's book Pancakes, Pancakes, which is about a young boy who wakes up one morning and sets out to make a pancake from scratch.
  • Students will participate in a hands on learning activity, a farm tour (in which the children gather ingredients around the farm), and a cooking activity (in which the children make their own pancakes in a colonial kitchen.)
  • Students will earn a better understanding about the origins of our food.

GRADE 3-12TH: (Colonial Experience) Trio Sampler Workshop

PURPOSE OF THE OUTING: SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL

STUDENTS MAY CLAIM 30 minutes of language arts, and 90 minutes of history on the OLS!


Learning Objectives:

  • Students will participate in hands-on “living history” activities such as candle dipping , cooking demonstration, farming, chores, and crafts.
  • Students will learn the history of the colonial plantation and how life was for families during that era.
  • Students will be able to compare and contrast life in the past to life in the present.

First 30 students to sign up for this outing will be FREE!!!!! (PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU SIGN UP FOR A FREE SPOT YOUR ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY)

  • Please let us know if you are a new family so we may welcome you
  • Please include names of all family/friends attending-please let us know if they are children or adults
  • Any serious allergies or medical conditions that I should be reminded about?

IMPORTANT REMINDERS!

1. In consideration of our students with serious allergies, please refrain from bringing nut (food) products or balloons.

2. As always, to limit the spread of possible flu, please do not attend a PA Virtual event if you have had a fever within 24 hours of the event.

3. For safety: All students need to be accompanied by a parent, learning coach or other designated adult. All students must wear shoes/sneakers for the entire school event and please refrain from bringing pets.

4. If there is a possibility of severe weather, please check Blackboard the day of the event in case of cancellation due to weather.

5. All PA Virtual events are tobacco free. Please do not smoke near or around any children or the outing facility.
