Blue Poison Dart Frogs
By: Natalie Hough
How many poison dart frogs are there.Well I can tell you one thing, there's alot of them!! You never know when one will turn up.
Why they are Blue.
Some Scientists think the reason why these frogs get their color is because of the food they eat.The color tells animals to stay away from these frogs.A blue pioson dart frogs real name is actually Dendrobates Tintorious. These frogs are strikingly beautiful. So, I think my answer would be because of the food they eat. They can also be blue because their food has a certain chemical that has to do with blue.
Why their Poisonous.
They are poisonous to protect themselves. They protect themselves from animals. Some animals like turantulas like to eat poison dart frogs. They need to be poisonous so nothing can kill them. That isn't always true though. They become poisonous because of the type of food they eat. Some frogs are more poisonous than others. When an animal bites these frogs, the poison goes straight to it's heart.
Why do they have Spots?
They have dots to tell an animal to stay away. The dots tell or say that this animal is poisonous. If you see a frog with dots on it's back don't touch it! Some frogs don't have dots on their backs, there on their feet. For example, a plain yellow dart frog may seem like a regular frog so, look at it's feet. There shoud be little black dots on it's tip of it's feet. If not it might have different colors on it.
Next time you think about poison dart frogs remember, wich frogs are poisonous and wich one's aren't. Also, think about why their blue, why their poisonous, and why they have dots on their backs, But most of all don't touch the ones with dots on their backs! I hoped you've learned alot!
