Digital vs Analog

By Alex Jurado

What makes something "Digital"

Thing that are considered digital are usually devices that us binary format (using ones and zeros) where each of the bits represent the distance of two amplitudes. Such as morse code.

Examples of digital technology

Somethings that are considered digital are digital clocks, computers, iPhones, and televisions.

What makes something "Analog"

When something is considered analog, that means the information is translated into pulses of varying amplitudes, such as the human voice.

Examples of analog technology

Somethings that are considered analog technology are a hand clock, microphone, and speakers.

The differences between analog and digital.........

~ digital information is translated into binary format (1's and o's)

~analog information is translated into electric pulses of varying amplitude

~digital signals only have a specific amount of possibilities

~analog signals have an infinite amount of possibilities

The differences between analog technology and digital technology.....

~analog technology information is translated into electric pulses of varying amplitudes

~digital technology is translated into binary format (1's and 0's)

~analog memory is stored in the form of an wave signal

~digital technology is stored in the form of a binary bit

Why digital is the better option......

  • digital technology has a specific set of possibilities; analog the possibilities are infinite
  • most kids are use to the digital technology; analog is more appealing to the older audiences because they would be use to that kind of specific technology
  • digital technology is free from error like parallax and approximation errors unlike analog technology which is more open to have errors
