V for Vendetta
Precis
In V for Vendetta (2005), V a nationally known hero speech to BTN, suggest that “there is something terribly wrong with this country” and that in order to change society we need to go against government. V illuminates this speech by pointing out problems with government, questioning fault (“Fear got best of you and you turned to high chancellor”) and by contrasting government with society to encourage the people to take action (“we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot.’). Using examples of when he destroyed the Old Bailey (“I destroyed Old Bailey”) he reminds the country what it has forgotten in order to get people to stand beside him to restore parliament. V audience of the people of Europe because he begins speech addressing his audience as London (“Good evening, London”) and encourages them to join his side in a persuading tone; however by using examples of a man from years ago (“400 years ago a great citizen wished to embed the 5 of November forever in our memory”) V makes his speech to all ages and genders of London and hopes to convince them to stand up against parliament(“together we shall”).
