This Week
Before returning, we prepared every aspect with military precision, including movement, curriculum, resources, cleaning, air space - you name it, we were prepared for it - well very nearly.....
The one and only thing we did not prepare for was the incredibly positive overall response of the children to being back. We were reliably informed by psychological experts that we should be prepared for melt downs, rule breaking, school phobia and passivity in the classroom. Well - we have had none of it. Maybe pride comes before a fall and next week may be manic (!) but this week has been fabulous. Perhaps for their sense of wellbeing what the children mostly needed was to be at school, with their peers, with their routines and the sense of achievement that learning gives.
The best thing about this week has been hearing the children. Hearing them playing in the playground, hearing them speaking to their teachers and hearing their footsteps around school again. The worst thing about this week has been the fact that we can't yet see all the children gathered in one place for worship but we have done all our worships by video link. It's not the same but it'll do for now!
