Greek Myth & Radio Industry by Luis Muniz

Greek Myth

Pandora was the very first woman who was formed out of clay by the gods. The Titan Prometheus had been assigned with the task of creating man, but since he angered Zeus, he commanded Hephaistos and the other gods to create a woman, Pandora, and endow her with the beauty. He then delivered her to Epimetheus, the foolish younger brother of Prometheus, as a bride. When he had accepted her into his house, Pandora opened the pithos a storage jar which Zeus had given her as a wedding present, and released the swarm of evil spirit strapped within.Pandora's daughter Pyrrha was the first-born mortal child. She and her husband Deukalion alone survived the Great Deluge. To repopulate the earth they each cast stones over their shoulder. Those cast by Deukalion formed men, and those of Pyrrha women.

About Pandora

The name Pandora means "all gifted" in Greek. In ancient Greek mythology, Pandora received many gifts from the gods, including the gift of music, from Apollo. We celebrate that virtue and have made it our mission to reward the musically curious among us with a never-ending experience of music discovery.

The way that the myth and the radio industry compare are that pandora had received many gifts and the industry wants to give you the gift of music just like Pandora received the gift of music from apollo. Also pandora wants to reward the musically curious with a never ending experience of music discovery. The mythology says that Pandora was a gift to Epimetheus so that is how it relates.
