His early years

Born in Caprese, Michelangelo on March 6, 1475 he spent most of his life in Settignano, near Florence, Italy. At age 7 he attended grammar school, he was not a brilliant student. He skipped classes and cheated on much of his work.

Early Career

Michelangelo was a painter, sculpter, architect and poet in his early years. At age 13 his father agreed to apprentice him to the Fashionable Florentine painter's workshop. From 1489 to 1492 he studied with the Medici family. Cardinal Riario was his best patron, he was so impressed with his paintings that he invited him to Rome, where he could live and work for the rest of his life.
