Week of December 14, 2015

Math- We spent some extra time last week working with the Place Value Sections Model for division, so we didn't have a chance to learn the Expanded Notation Method. We will start with this new method today, and continue to work on division with these two methods for the remainder (ha, ha...get it?) of the week. I have attached my "Show Me" videos below for each of these methods.

Writing - This week we will revise and edit our literary non-fiction writing using the Chromebooks. Students will be doing this using Google Classroom, which means that they can access it from home if they fall behind. We will finish this unit this week!

Science - This week we will discuss stream parts, model tributaries, and look at the flow of rivers and how hills and rocks can affect the flow of rivers.

Social Studies - Social Studies will be put on hold as we spend some extra time with our science unit.

Reading- Last week we worked hard on writing summaries for our non-fiction reading. We then became teachers and taught each other about what we learned. This week we will work on revising our thinking when we learn something new and responding to nonfiction.

Teacher Notes

Reading is Fundamental Field Trip #2

Thank you to the volunteer drivers who are making Friday's field trip possible! I know this is a busy time of year, the students and I truly appreciate your sacrifice! Drivers, please plan on being to Northwood by 1:15. After lunch (1:04), I will take attendance and then the students and I will meet you in the cafeteria.

Math Homework and Remembering Pages

Save this Link! This is a PDF of all of the "Homework and Remembering" Pages. If Fido eats your child's homework, just print off a new page!

Shhhhh... don't tell the students kids, here is a link to the answer key too. This is a great resource to help you check their work each night.
