COMING SOON ... November BOOK FAIR!
We are very happy to announce that we will be having an in-person Scholastic book fair at BPMS this year. The dates are November 8-12.
We will follow the district COVID safety guidelines and the lead of the district elementary schools that have already had their fairs with these changes from previous in-person fairs:
1. No outside volunteer help.
2. Only students and teachers in their classroom groups will attend the fair. No parents, families, or guardians can attend. I will send VERY DETAILED info to teachers and families about how this will work. Students will have 2 visits to the fair: once during their scheduled library time, and one other time I will schedule with each classroom teacher. No random browsing will happen this year.
3. There will be very limited "extras" (toys and so forth) at the fair, mostly books, perhaps pencils and bookmarks.
Our rationale for proceeding with this is that our kids really love the book fair, and have missed it. We want to offer something special in a year plus of pandemic that has required us to put on hold many fun traditions. We will greatly miss the essential component of community volunteers and family involvement this year. As in years past, I will make sure that every child in our school gets a new book, regardless of ability to pay. I will speak with teachers individually about particular students who may need this option.
