BOONE SCHOOL FAMILY NEWSLETTER
FEBRUARY 2019
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Families and Friends of Boone School,
The end of January also brings a close to the 2nd quarter, and we are officially halfway through the school year! You can be on the lookout for 2nd quarter report cards to be sent home with students on Monday, February 11th.
Please note that our after school programming for 2nd semester will begin the week of February 11, 2019. After conducting a mid-year after school interest survey with students as well as parents/guardians, we are excited to announce that we will be offering several new after school courses. All students should have received registration forms last week. If you need a new registration form or assistance with completing one, please contact Naomi Borowsky (nborowsky@ymcachicago.org) or Savitha Kowligy (sskowligy@cps.edu), or stop in the main office.
I am looking forward to many upcoming events this month including our rescheduled Boone Cares Day of Service, Boone Basketball games, and our African-American History Month celebration. Stay warm and be safe out there!
Sincerely,
Jackie Delaney, Principal

On January 12th the Boone Debate Team hosted over 20 schools for the 3rd Tournament of the season. Our Boone Debaters had tremendous success debating Immigration Policy against 80+ teams. It was a thrilling day for all!
Students from all over the city used their reasoning skills and presented evidence to create strong arguments. Right before the start of the debate, students were assigned a position - affirmative (for) or negative (against). Students argued whether changing immigration policy in the United States will improve the country or world.
Congratulations to the Boone Debate Team and their Coaches, Mr. Krantz and Mr. Lambert!!
