20% of the day’s sales will be donated to HSESPTA. If you can’t make it for dinner, consider having lunch. The entire day is Cheetah Day!

** Make sure to mention HSES to your server **

Annual Book Swap

Our Annual Book Swap will take place from 4:30 – 6:00, December 6th in the Cafeteria. Clear off your bookshelves and donate books you no longer need. There will be drop boxes in the lobby starting on Tuesday 11/13 with a sign-up sheet to record the child’s name, teacher and number and of books donated. We are looking for books Pre-K to middle school level. (Please, no board books.) For the adult crowd, parenting, cooking, educational or crafting books are also accepted. This is the perfect time to pick up books to read over winter break! For every book you donate, your child can come to the book swap on December 6th during O’Holly Night and pick out a “new” book. (Maximum of 5 “new” books, no maximum number for donations!) After the book swap, teachers will have an opportunity to choose from any remaining books for their classroom libraries. Anything else will be donated to the Wake County “Wake Up and Read” Program. This year you may bring your donated books to the event to swap but remember the maximum “new” books you can pick out is 5! Email with questions

For the second consecutive year, WCPSS will partner with the Carolina Hurricanes to bring READvolution to all elementary schools. This exciting partnership will support a community-wide literacy campaign around daily reading outside of school, plus allow students the chance to attend a Hurricanes game.

This year the READvolution time frame will be between Monday, Sept. 24 and Friday, Nov. 16, 2018. Your child will be able to be part of this event by reading daily for 20 minutes!

This year’s challenge features both individual and school-wide components, as well as goals for each.

The individual component will include the following:

● Through an online tracking system, students will provide their name and the number of minutes read each day. Please see the log-in instructions.

● Students who achieve the goal of reading 20 minutes per day throughout the allotted time frame (for a total of 800 minutes) will receive two complimentary ticket vouchers to a Hurricanes home game.

This information is available in Spanish HERE and more information can be found on the WCPSS READvolution site found HERE.

Thank you for your willingness to participate in the READvolution program! We appreciate this opportunity to build lifelong readers and learners in our community.
