RED RIBBON WEEK
Guest Reader Opportunity
Terre Redmon, a local author, has again offered her services to read to classrooms. Here is the blurb she provided me: I have two power point presentations about how I became an author and how to learn to read using pictures. All three books have been published and I have copies available. This is just a hobby for me and I enjoy talking to the children and sharing my story so there is no charge. The titles of the books are:
Labradors for Life: Dallas Becomes a Mom
Labradors for Life: Hoss and Cali Learn to Swim
Labradors for Life: Cali Finds the ABC’s
If you are interested in reaching out to Terre, her phone number is 417-827-3141 and her e-mail is tarredmon@gmail.com
Guided Math
A great quote from Guided Math in Action is “Math workshop is a space where you make thinking visible.”
Although a numerate environment is rich in anchor charts, math tools, math literature, student work, student journals, etc. It is also so much more. A numerate environment consists of the language we use with students, the questions we ask to promote discourse, students sharing strategies and participating in critiquing the reasoning of others, mathematical vocabulary and peer feedback. It is the community of mathematicians that we have built and all of the artifacts and scaffolding that go with it.
When you listen in your classroom what do you hear that tells you that your classroom has a Numeracy Rich Environment?

Literacy Connection
You received The Reading Strategies Book and The Writing Strategies Book by Jennifer Serravallo to help you plan and implement reading and writing mini-lessons during Reader’s Workshop and Writer’s Workshop. A copy was also provided to the library for those that did not receive the book. The lessons have also been scanned and linked in Canvas for The Reading Strategies Book and The Writing Strategies Book. Below is a brief walkthrough of each book.
