An Excerpt from our Returning and Learning Handbook Addendum Regarding Attendance
Student attendance will be tracked each day. It is expected that students attend their remote learning and/or in-person classes as scheduled. Absenteeism will be addressed considering guidance from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Students who are quarantined due to contact, but are not sick, would not be marked absent because they can attend remotely. Families should notify the child's teacher or the school office regarding individual circumstances that may arise which interfere with the student’s ability to attend (internet issues, connectivity problems, etc.) class remotely.
For the 2020-2021 school year, a parent/guardian email will be accepted to excuse illness where a doctor’s office visit is not required. The purpose of this procedure is to encourage families to keep their child home if they are exhibiting symptoms or are feeling unwell. When possible, it would be helpful to give your child's teacher advance notice that your child will be absent, late, or dismissed.
