Principal Lewis' Sunday Update for the week of 9/23/19
This week will be our last week of September and the fourth week of our Eagle Time cycle. Please ask your kiddo what they have learned so far in STEAM, Coding, Physical Enrichment with the YMCA, and Spanish through Art.
Here are the announcements for this week:
Monday, September 23rd at 7:50am, students in grades 1st-5th will meet their teachers up on the playground. We will have our BRAVO assembly, starting at 7:50am.
Tuesday, September 24th at 8:00am, we will have another Volunteer Orientation in the auditorium. Please come to this 20 minute orientation if you would like to be a parent volunteer at SME.
Wednesday, September 25th at 4:00pm, we will have our School Site Council meeting in room 124. Come hear about attendance, statewide assessment data and our Single Plan for Student Achievement goals. Also, we will welcome our new parent members, Carol Silberberg, Ashley Messersmith, Milca Ruz, Chris Hunter, and Ajeenah Abdus-Samad. Please come to SSC meetings, even if you are not officially on the board.
Thursday, September 26th is make-up picture day. If your child did not take a picture, please have them come to school ready. If you looked at the picture, coming home tomorrow, and you would like to have your child do a re-take, please have them bring the pictures with them to school.
Friday, September 27th is our first Playday with the theme “crazy hair”. Your child may bring a non-electronic toy to school and will get an extended recess, due to following the school rules. Then, after school is our infamous Fall Festival from 2:15-4:00pm on our grassy field. All students must have a signed permission slip to attend. Kinder is required to have adult supervision and 1st grade is recommended. This is a fun event that you won’t want to miss!
Our fall festival is only days away! This Friday we hope everyone joins us on the grassy field immediately following dismissal for our annual Fall Festival. Have your fortune told by our all-seeing teachers…Mrs. Richey, Mrs. Halpern and Ms. Chaparian. Test your strength on the strongman. Take a chance on the cupcake walk. Have your face painted and get some photos taken in our photo booth to celebrate the day. So many fun games and prizes. Yes prizes! Parents if you haven’t signed up yet to help… we need you! There are plenty of volunteers needed from the start of the day to the end of our event. Please see your room parents for more information as to how you can help make this the best fall festival yet!
Please be courteous to our school neighbors by not blocking their driveways or moving trashcans. Also as a reminder, please use the crosswalks on the corners and make sure you are not having your kiddo walk, or ride their scooter/bike through the staff parking lot.
For more event information, please be sure to visit our school website at sme.pusd.us
We are excited to see all of our student’s tomorrow morning at SME where we launch our journey of nurturing learners, and growing leaders.
