Together We Learn, Together We Lead!
THANK YOU
Thank you for your support, patience, flexibility and positive attitude this first week back to in person instruction and for those of you starting Our Path and My Path. We will continue to get better each week as all of us get better acclimated to our new processes and protocols, in addition to the Our Path and My Path class lists being finalized.
Like each year, we also need your patience and adherence to our arrival and dismissal practices. This is especially important this year.
We can get through anything together! Together We Learn, Together We Lead!
Respectfully,
Nayal Maktari
Principal
Our Path Learning Option
Dear Our Path Community,
I would like to introduce myself as the new Our Path Coordinator for the Walled Lake Consolidated School District. Prior to my appointment, I had the pleasure of serving the Walled Lake School District for over 30 years and just recently retired as principal from Guest Elementary School.
Prior to being an Elementary Principal, I taught multiple grade levels for 19 years at Oakley Park Elementary School. In addition to my role as an educator, my husband and I enjoy time together traveling, walking our dogs, and spending time with our four adult children.
My priority is to provide your child with an engaged educational experience where they will grow academically and emotionally. I am committed to meeting the needs of our students, staff, and community.
I am truly honored to return to the Walled Lake School District to fulfill this role and look forward to getting to know you and your children during this very unusual school year. My contact information is listed above. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Over the next two weeks, I am supporting Pleasant Lake Elementary and may not be available to answer questions in a timely manner. During this time, I encourage you to work closely with the OUR Path teacher your child has been assigned to for academic and social emotional support. You can contact your child’s teacher using the teacher’s Outlook email using this Staff Directory, or by emailing using the teacher’s Gmail: firstnamelastname@teachers.wlcsd.org.
We are all in this together. OUR Path teachers are committed to meeting the needs of our children. I am excited to be in this new role supporting OUR Path students, families and staff.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we begin the next chapter of the 2020-21 WLCSD learning experience.
Sincerely,
Michelle Fiebke-Lang, Ed.S.

Choose K-12 Walled Lake Students for Year-End Giving
The Foundation for Excellence’s support for Walled Lake Schools’ 13,000 students is needed now more than ever for such critical areas of education as literacy and social and emotional learning. Don’t miss out on making your one-time tax, deductible donation of $300 to the Foundation, as provided by the CARES Act. Vital diversification for an entire classroom’s literacy library can happen with $300. You make the difference for our children-future employees, business owners and leaders. Be inspired to continue or begin your Foundation support and hear from our community leaders why they prioritize support for our District and from Jen Phillips-Weckstein; Dublin teacher, WLCSD parent and longstanding FFE trustee, regarding how FFE changed the trajectory of her teaching.
QUESTIONS? Email Foundation Executive Director MichelleBianco@wlcsd.org or phone 248.956.2116. Checks can be made payable to Foundation for Excellence-Walled Lake Schools, 850 Ladd Rd., Bldg. D, Walled Lake, MI 48390.
Walled Lake Schools’ Foundation for Excellence (FFE)
Our school has truly benefited for nearly 30 years from the support of Walled Lake Schools’ Foundation for Excellence (FFE), a 501 ( c) 3 nonprofit. Please view snapshot of recent Foundation grant awards received by our school and allocated to the District to benefit K-12 students and educators. FFE’s outreach also includes the Shuman CDJR Performing Arts Student Grant Program and 5th Grade Camp Scholarship fund for our District’s title 1 elementary schools. Check out FFE’s fall flyer or visit the Foundation’s website to more fully understand the FFE’s commitment to WLCSD.
The Foundation is sustained through annual fundraising (Tuition Expedition 50/50 Scholarship Raffle, Count on Me Program-WLCSD staff payroll donations, & golf scramble), private and public sector donations and receipt of memorials, honorariums, and alumni gifts. Donations can be made online to help sustain FFE’s mission and support for our schools. Checks are also accepted and can be made payable to the Foundation for Excellence and mailed to 850 Ladd Rd., Bldg. D, Walled Lake, MI 48390.
Questions? Email Foundation’s exec. director, MichelleBianco@wlcsd.org.
