Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! Your creative nature is part of being human. By re-engaging our creativity, we expand the idea of "artist."
I'm a visual artist. Is this course just for writers?
Anyone who wants to feel more connected to their creative source will find these techniques valuable, whether you are a visual, literary, or performing artist (or simply want to become more creative).
The book The Artist's Way is subtitled a "spiritual path." Is this course religious?
The author, Julia Cameron, used 12-step programs as a model for The Artist's Way so she emphasizes the importance of recognizing a power higher than oneself. This course will offer mindfulness techniques and awareness practices that fit well with any faith system but are not specifically "religious."
Do I need to have a copy of The Artist's Way?
No. We will follow Cameron's format and essential activities from the book but you do not need to purchase the book in order to take this course. Some people find The Artist's Way works as a self-guided process but many others find they need to be part of an Artist's Way community of learners to really focus and grow. If you are the latter, this course is for you!
