CONGRATS TO OUR MODEL UN TEAM!
On Saturday, May 13, twenty Smith Knights represented Smith at the 2023 Spring Middle School Conference and Workshop MUNKey VIII conducted by Troy High School’s Model UN Team. Troy middle schoolers from across the school district had a super fun day experiencing what Model UN is all about while practicing in debates, public speaking, politics, and history. Students were grouped into three levels based on previous experience, where they were able to participate in mock conferences in the afternoon. Keynote Speaker was Dr. Rich Machesky who started the day with an inspiring speech about the importance of public speaking.
Congratulations to four of our very own Smith Knights who were awarded the following:
NOVICE LEVEL: EUNAH KIM (7th grade)- SPIRIT OF MODEL UN AWARD
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL: GINA FAVRET (7th grade)- HONORABLE MENTION AWARD
EXPERIENCED LEVEL: AARSHIA SONI (8th grade)- HONORABLE MENTION AWARD

SPRING DANCE
PLAY WATER POLO IN HIGH SCHOOL!
8th graders and their parents are invited to an Informational meeting and a chance to try playing Water Polo - Wednesday, May 24th at 7pm – Troy High Pool
Troy United Water Polo is holding an 8th grade recruiting night. Bring your suit and towel; after a brief orientation, it's time to jump in and play! High School Water Polo players will coach you on a few basics, then you’ll play a game with other 8th graders.
Many water polo players are also on the school swim team, the High School seasons do not conflict, and many of the county’s fastest swimmers also play Water Polo. Club Swimmers are encouraged to play. There are no tryouts, but players must be very strong swimmers. Athens, Troy High, and International Academy East students combine to form JV and Varsity Troy United Teams. Boys Water Polo is a Fall sport and Girls Water Polo is a Spring sport.
Details are here https://troyathletics.org/2023/05/11/troy-united-water-polo-recruiting-night/
