It's Been a Great Week at Hoover!

2019 - 5th Grade Camping Trip Information - Sept. 4-6, 2019

Wednesday, September 4, 8:00 AM - Parents should drop off campers and their luggage to the Hoover gym. Breakfast will be available in the cafeteria after checking in luggage. Students must check their luggage in with their teachers in the gym We have special tags that we need to use. It is also how we will take attendance and know that everyone has arrived for camp. All Camping Chaperones must check-in with Mrs. Galinowski at this time and receive their group packets.

Friday, September 6, 1:30-2:00 PM - Parents should pick up campers in the South Parking Lot by the gym.

Fifth graders are allowed TWO pieces of luggage each. One for clothing, one for bedding.

If you wish for your child to use sunscreen or insect repellent, you must send it with your camper. We are not allowed to provide sunscreen and insect repellent for students due to allergies.

Students should pack at least three pairs of blue jeans or pants. Weather permitting, students may wear shorts, but they must be appropriate school length. Do discuss the pros and cons of shorts with your student. It is a camp, so sun exposure, insects bites, and poison ivy, etc... are risks.

Students are allowed to bring a small flashlight if they wish, but it must fit in their luggage.

Do NOT send money, electronics, or food.

A professional photographer will take pictures of students throughout the camp. Picture CDs will be available for purchase after the camping trip for $5. All proceeds will benefit Riley Hospital for Children.

Crawfordsville Schools has been proud to continue to provide this outdoor education experience for all of our 5th grade students for over 40 years!

*Students that are unable to attend the camping trip for medical reasons, etc... are expected to attend school everyday unless a pre-arranged absence has been approved by the office.

Notes from the Nurse

I am excited to be going on the camping trip next week with the fifth grade students. This will be my second year attending and I can assure you, your child will make many lasting memories! Do not forget if your child needs medications/inhalers on the trip, they must be in the clinic to me by Tuesday, September 3rd. Students cannot bring medications to school with them. If your child takes medicines and they are not in the clinic by Tuesday, they will not be able to attend the camping trip. If you have any issues with bringing in medications, please contact me.

Sincerely,

Sabrina Cyr, Hoover School Nurse
