Parent/Teacher Conferences
Mark your calendars for Spring Parent Teacher conferences:
Wednesday, March 4th, 4:30 pm to 8:15 pm
Thursday, March 5th, 12:30 pm to 8:15 pm
If you haven’t already done so, please call 531-299-1480 to schedule a time to meet with your child's teacher. Our goal is always 100% attendance at Parent/Teacher Conferences!
We will also be having a Health Fair in Gateway’s gym on Thursday from 1:00-4:00 pm. Stop by the Gateway gym to see various organizations promoting health and wellness!!
The National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) offers some excellent information about Parent Teacher conferences:
Children whose parents are involved in their education do better in school.
Before the conference, talk with your child and find out what his/her favorite school subjects and activities are and if he/she has any concerns for you to discuss with the teacher.
Review your child’s work. Are there any areas that need improvement? Discuss both strengths and weaknesses with the teacher – we all have both.
Be on time. The conference schedule is tight and everyone needs to stay on schedule. If you develop a conflict, let the school know as soon as possible. Try to reschedule, even if it needs to be a phone conference.
Keep an open mind. Conferences are meant to help you understand your child’s school performance. Working together, home and school maximize student success.
Make plans to follow through at home if needed. Decide what you, your child, and the teacher need to do to help your child succeed.
Afterwards tell your child about the talk. Praise the things he/she is doing well and pass along compliments. If you need to, talk about areas you will work to improve.

State Testing
Gateway students in Grades 3-6 will be completing the NSCAS (Nebraska Student Centered Assessment System) during the months of March and April. So that your child does his or her very best on the NeSA, please encourage them by reinforcing the following test-taking tips:
Get a good night’s sleep.
Arrive to school on time.
Eat breakfast.
Come to school with a positive attitude.
Most importantly, encourage your child to do their very best on the test!!!
For more specific information about how to help your child on the NSCAS, please talk to their classroom teacher.
Thanks in advance for helping our students to show all
that they have learned this year!!
Daylight Savings Time
Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at 2 a.m. — when people should set their clocks ahead to 3 a.m.
Though your cellphones and smart devices should change automatically, don’t forget to turn those manual bedside alarm clocks forward, or you could risk oversleeping and being late the next day!!
Handicap Parking @ Gateway
For more facts about handicap parking, please see the fact sheet attached below.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation!
