HSSD Safety Update
The HSSD Safety and Security Committee has used State Safety Grant money to train employees on ALICE (threat response) and Trauma Informed Care (mental wellness). The Committee will continue to engage more students, parents, and community partners to provide a safe learning environment for our students and staff. Perhaps this is the most important work the Committee is accomplishing, as everyone’s voice matters in regard to safety and security. Doing what we can to protect our students, parents, and staff is our most important responsibility. If you have questions for the Board of Education, please reach out to your Board member Vanessa Moran at vanemora@hssdschools.org.
Student Council Updates
On March 22 - all students will be participating in our school wide incentive dance. To make this event even more fun, student council will be selling glow sticks that can be used during the event. Sales for the glowsticks will take place March 15-21. Please send money in an envelope, labeled with your child's name and teacher; along with the amount of money enclosed and how many you would like to purchase. Envelopes should be turned in to your child's teacher; and glow sticks will be handed out the day of the dance.
Parents of 4th grade Students
Did your child come home excited about choosing band, choir or orchestra next year? Please watch for an email from Lineville with instructions on how to select a music option for 5th grade. If you have any questions, or are looking for more information to help your child make a decision; please visit http://linevillehssd.weebly.com/music.html A decision should be made and the form completed by March 22.
The Bulldog Way of Life
As the snow begins to melt; standing water on our playground or field may require recess to be confined to the blacktop only. Blacktop only days tend to cause some sad faces; as kids claim they are bored......and occassionally boredom leads some to make bad decisions. To encourage them to get the wiggles out, and enjoy the fresh air two of our teachers found a great resource online for some games that work well on the blacktop only. Feel free to check out this web site and ask your child if they have tried any of the fun activities listed.
