The Cherokees were located in beautiful north Georgia. They wore clothing made from animal skin before the Europeans introduced cloth to them. Even before the 1800's, men wore leggings made from deer hide to protect their legs from thorns and underbrush. John Ross was the chief of the Cherokees. He took a petition to congress protesting the Cherokee removal from their lands.
