The Compass

Week of September 13, 2021

Navigation Notes

Hello Westside Families! Congratulations again to all our prize winners from Open House participants. We hope you enjoy the treats, gift cards and event tickets!

Our first PBIS Event is this week to reward your children for following the Explorer Expectations and earning Compass Cash. Each student was given the opportunity to purchase a ticket with their Compass Cash to this event or save their Compass Cash to spend at the Explorer Exchange coming up at the end of the month. Those who purchased a ticket will enjoy an outdoors games experience with music, fun and treats! Students may bring hats and sunglasses on Thursday if attending.

This week, we are exploring the meaning of RESPECT & EMPATHY during class convention. Be sure to ask your child how they showed respect or empathy this week!

Interims will be published on Wednesday in FOCUS and hard copies will be sent home in the Thursday folders. Along with those, important documents to review and possibly sign will be sent home including FSA score reports, Mental Health Curriculum notices, Healthy Body Systems curriculum notice, and student progression letters depending on your child's grade level. Please sign and return documents that are requested.

Thank you for your continued support in your child's educational journey! Have a wonderful week!

Our first public meeting will be virtual next Monday, September 20th @ 8:30a, via ZOOM. During this meeting, we will begin the election process of a new board, review goals based upon survey data, and begin a plan for the school year. The link for this meeting will be sent out soon via email, text, and Facebook.

Westside Explorers Are Learning Every Moment of Every Day!

Kindergarten students in Ms. Grant's class have been practicing their "Read to Self" work station and are doing well reading independently!
Third Graders in Mrs. Simmon's class did an outdoor scientific exploration on whether wax paper or aluminum foil would create the better "s'more" using solar energy.

Please send a mask and reusable water bottle with your child daily!
