Get ready, CPS Family! The next winner could be you!
Meghan D'Arcy
When Meghan joined the Kelly School last fall, it was her first role as a school social worker, but she made it really easy to forget that fact! In her role, she works with some of our students with the most complex and overlapping challenges, where trauma history, SEL needs, academic gaps, and disabilities impact how a child feels about themselves, about school, and about their future. Meghan shows up every day with a smile, and shows incredible creativity, resourcefulness, emotional constancy, resilience, and above all, care for the dignity of each of our learners -- while also being a trusted support, thought partner, resource, and ally for colleagues and parents. She's really good at what she does, and she helps those around her get better and better and serving our most vulnerable students well. Our team is stronger because Meghan is a part of it. The Kelly School team loves Meghan!

Middle School Professional Development
On Wednesday, middle school educators came together for a humanities (ELA/History)-focused professional development session. The purpose of the session was to empower educators around the shared responsibility of literacy instruction and to provide educators with tools for refining their planning practices. The ongoing work of the humanities team has been to identify learning objectives that are aligned with content standards and are able to serve as a clear through line throughout a lesson. With the Do Now serving as an access point and the exit ticket as a formative assessment of whether or not students met the objective, teachers were able to identify actionable, measurable objectives that could be tied to a driving question that would allow for students to engage in higher order thinking. Whether teachers are currently in their first year of teaching or their twentieth, the discussions that ensued and the refinement that occurred was indicative of thinking and planning that will lead to improved outcomes for all students.
