Cavalier Pride
Volume 22.23.8 September 30, 2022
From the Desk of Charles LaClear
Homecoming 2022 is wrapping up and it has been another successful week at CAHS. Tonight we have our annual parade starting at 4:30pm at the South Baptist Church on VanSlyke and will proceed to Cavalier Stadium at CAMS to root on our Varsity Football team . Tomorrow night we will hold our Homecoming Dance at CAHS.
ATTENDANCE-We are returning to our handbook policy regarding attendance. Students who exceed 12 absences in a class period are at risk at losing their letter grade (a ZERO for their GPA). We are looking at Saturday School options for excessive tardies and absences. Students need to be in their first hour before 7:20am. Many students are arriving after 7:20. Making a few minor adjustments to morning routines and making punctuality a priority will go along way to solving this problem.
STUDENT COUNT DAY- Wednesday, October 5 is a very important day for our building and district. Student Count Day provides the funding we need to operate classes, pay for Chromebook, athletics, arts and drama.
Google Class-Parents are encouraged to join their students Google Class, ask your student for tech tips on how to you might go about doing that.
Odds and Ends- Looking down the road we will be hosting Parent Teacher Conferences Tuesday, October 11. Please mark your calendars.
Be sure to update your email and sign up with your students class BAND, links can be found below.

Homecoming Dance--Choose Your Own Adventure
This year we have three (3) options:
A) Drop and Go-Parents dropping off students who wish for a quick Drop and Go should use the entrance at the light, turn left in front of the HS and drop students off at the front door, proceed to the exit at north end of the lot and enjoy your evening.
B) Quick Park-Students who drive themselves and are looking for a low key entrance should enter the school south of the light (soccer field/student lot entrance) and immediately turn left into the student lot.
C) Parade of Cars-Students and parents looking for the full 'door to door' experience should enter the school south of the light (soccer field/student lot entrance) and proceed along the soccer field turning at the tennis court through the Blue Brigade's practice area, turn right toward the softball diamond and follow the drive to the athletic entrance. This line will be long so please be patient. NOTE: The athletic parking lot is NOT intended for parking.

Food Service INFORMATION
In place of the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application, we need your household to fill out and sign the Household Information Report (located in your schools’ office, C-A website or the Family Portal link below). This report is critical in determining the amount of money that our school receives from a variety of State and Federal supplemental programs like Title I A, At-risk (31a), Title II A, E- Rate, etc. These supplemental programs offer support and services to our students.
We are asking that you please complete and submit your Household Information Report by October 14, 2022, to ensure that additional funding for our school is available to meet the needs of our students. All information on the report submitted is confidential. Without your assistance in completing and returning the attached report, our school cannot maximize the use of available State and Federal funds.
For questions on the family portal call 877.383.3100 and press 1. There are also instructions available on the home page of the portal.
Supports for staff and families for English Language Learners

It is also a legal requirement to communicate with families in their primary mode of communication. If you need to have a conference, share important information, or anything else, please contact the Student Support Services office for information on translations services at 810-591-6251.
