EPCUSD Construction Update

August 2022

Schools will be open for the first day of school on August 31

Summer construction is progressing as planned and will be ready for students to return on August 31. The renovations and additions to our elementary schools are a two year process and there will continue to be some inconveniences and challenges along the way. The district will be working with the construction company to minimize the impact the construction will have on students, staff and community members. The buildings are looking great and we are excited to have the students return on Aug 31.

Elmwood Elementary

The first floor at Elmwood has been completely remodeled and we are in the final stages of drywall, painting and cabinet installation. Some areas will have bare concrete floors or exposed ceilings when school begins. This was all part of the planned construction timeline, even with the extended summer. The courtyard area on the east side of the building will continue to be under construction during the school year. The principal, Mr. Lerner will be communicating the entering and dismissal plans later this summer. For current pictures of the project please click on the link below.

John Mills Elementary

The first phase of the John Mills renovation is progressing on schedule. The second floor classrooms are complete and ready for a deep clean and furniture. The contractors will be finishing the hallways, restrooms and first floor classrooms over the next two weeks. The construction for the addition will continue throughout the school year and there will be fencing and wood barriers installed to provide a safe learning environment for students. Some areas of flooring and ceiling tiles will need to be completed after the start of school, but this will be done outside of normal school hours to minimize the disruption to the classrooms.
