information and reflection about Joseph Case High School

Volume 14, No. 10 *** December 12, 2017

Tonight: Holiday Music Concert

Please join us in the auditorium tonight (Tuesday, December 12) for the Joseph Case High Music Department's annual holiday concert. The event starts at 7 p.m.

Thursday: Cardinal Night for Grade 8 Students

Joseph Case High School will present its annual Cardinal Night geared for grade 8 students who will be part of our Class of 2022 on Thursday, December 14, beginning at 6 p.m., in the auditorium. Interested families should register here. The night begins with an overview of the high school experiences, transitions to facility tours by National Honor Society members, and culminates in a student-led Activities Fair in the cafeteria.

New this year will be an exciting, rapid-fire presentation by the high school curriculum-based leadership team that celebrates the best of their department at Joseph Case High School. The presentation will ignite families' interest in the vast educational programming at Joseph Case High School.

We anticipate School Choice will again be offered this year so that students outside of Swansea may attend Joseph Case High School. This would be a perfect event for any family who is looking at secondary school options in the region.

CPR for seniors

All seniors at Joseph Case High School will complete CPR training in conjunction with Swansea Ambulance Corps all next week, December 18-22, to fulfill our graduation requirement for CPR certification. Now in Year 4, Case was the first high school in Massachusetts to make CPR a graduation requirement. Senior students (as well as Child Care II juniors) will report to the band room instead of phys ed and directed study for the next five school days. No Senior Privilege next week ==> it will resume on January 2.

Annual Giving Tree

The Giving Tree is up in the high school's main lobby and adorned with donation requests. Please consider having your student take an ornament and return an unwrapped present for a child at the Cranwood Italian Home for Children for the holidays. The Case High Student Council under the supervision of teacher Adam Palmisciano oversees this opportunity to celebrate kindness as a community while helping children who may be less fortunate than some. Please return all unwrapped gifts to the high school by Wednesday, December 20.

Mark your calendars for the fundraising event -- hosted by the Case High Student Council -- that benefits all of the clubs and activities at our high school as well as helps us celebrate many students inside and outside of the classroom.
