A MESSAGE FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS, DR. ANGI WILLIAMS

Dear Galena Park I.S.D. Employees,

Every December, we are reminded of all our blessings and the joy that comes with the holiday season. We remember friends of the past and appreciate current relationships. As a school district, we sometimes face challenges as we seek to provide our students the education they deserve, stability to our staff and support to our community. However, we gladly rise to meet those challenges.

Galena Park I.S.D. is committed to achieving Excellence in All, For All, By All. We faithfully work to prepare students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners. We reflect on the road we have travelled and previous successes achieved, while continuing to move onward and upward to new successes. We work tirelessly to support the GPISD community.

Please allow me to thank you, our wonderful and extremely talented GPISD family, for your continued support and all the gifts you share with the District and the amazing students and families we serve. It is an honor to have the opportunity to lead and learn from you. You are the gift that keeps on giving, and I count each of you among my dearest blessings.

I wish a joyous holiday season to you and your loved ones.

With heartfelt thanks,

Dr. Angi Williams

Superintendent of Schools

DECEMBER'S TECHNOLOGY TIPS

Special thanks to Karen Tiffin for sharing our monthly Technology Tips!

Tip #1: If you access highly secure or personal information from your computer workstation, be sure to lock your workstation when you walk away. A really quick shortcut for this is to hold down the Windows key and tap L on your keyboard.

Tip #2: Create or change your signature in Outlook: Go to Settings, select "View all Outlook settings," choose "Compose and reply," then enter the information for your email signature. Be sure the box next to "Automatically include my signature on new messages that I compose" is checked. Click "Save," then exit.

Soundzabound Music

GPISD has added 2 new volumes, v10 & Epic Moments, to the music library through Soundzabound.

Perfect for podcasts, classroom music/sounds, PowerPoint™, videos, news, shows, video yearbooks, digital storytelling, presentations, TV broadcasts, web design and more! Our students & staff members needing music should pull from these volumes to protect our system against copyright infringements. Soundzabound is included in ClassLink and the generic login information for everyone is:

  • username = galenapark
  • pw = galenamusic

Please help spread the word and share this information with all students & faculty members. A good time to share is when you are discussing copyright, research, digital citizenship topics, etc.

LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP SERIES

Galena Park I.S.D. is excited to announce the return of the Leadership Workshop Series (LWS) for the 2019-2020 school year. This series is a leadership development program for employees, from classroom teachers to current administrators, who want to lead more effectively. It is designed to sharpen relationship skills, a part of leadership that is often ignored in training programs while having fun and building valuable connections with other campus/district leaders. Please click on the link below for more information.
