Tidbits from the Teacher

-We will have homework the week of November 26th. Please remember to have your child work on a bit each night. I don't want to have to be Viola Swamp about homework!

-Our Winter Breakfast Party will be on Thursday, Dec. 20th from 9:15-10:30! Students will be able to wear pj's that day if they want. Angie (our room parent) will be sending out more information shortly. Math News

We'll continue our study of patterns this week. We'll look at how patterns can be created or compared to learn information. We'll create more complicated growing and repeating patterns.

Science News

This week we'll switch back into science and look at force and energy. We'll investigate the effects on an object when amounts of light, heat, and sound energy are increased or decreased.

Writing News

We had so many friends out that we have postponed our Publishing Party until the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. For the next few weeks, students will be given the opportunity to select the type of writing they want to create based upon the variety we've learned about up to this point. They will be able to write narrative stories, letters, lists, All About books, How-To's, and poetry!

Reading News

We'll continue our research work this week. Before the break, students were guided through a series of lessons on Navajo Code Talkers. They learned how to collect important information, paraphrase and turn the research into a Power Point. Now everyone will work in groups of two or three and choose a famous American from my list to research. Everyone is very excited to use the computers!!
