Reflecting on the past week...
Freshmen registration and student course selection was front and center in most everyone's mind this week.
As our 9-11th graders make their final decisions on what courses they would like to take next year, several students were meeting with Guidance inquiring about what courses are best for their long-term goals, as well as ensuring that they have the required courses to graduate from Marian. Thanks to all of the department chairs as they field questions and requests for students qualifying for more challenging courses. If you didn't hear the announcements Friday afternoon, online course selection was extended to the end of day Monday... please remind your students to get this taken care of!
Wednesday evening we had over 60 families come to register their students. Sunday morning we are hoping for more. Thank you to all Marian staff who worked registration... we cannot do this without all of you!
This past Wednesday and Thursday several students took advantage of the ACT practice test hosted by Mrs. Varga in the library. Surely students who take advantage of this practice session will see the fruits of their labors when they test this April!
Thanks to all Staffulty cooperation this past Thursday morning as we conducted a Code Yellow to secure our students while Administration conducted a canine search of the school and premises. The Woodstock police brought in 8 canines which allowed the procedure to go quickly and smoothly. Your assistance in keeping all students inside your classrooms allowed us to complete the entire search in just over one class period. Thank you for your flexibility as we got back on track with the bells!
What's coming up?
Welcome to World Language Week! Please click here to see the schedule of events for the week, including student presentations on Wednesday & Thursday! On Thursday evening new inductees will be welcomed into the Spanish Honor Society as well! This is a wonderful week to infuse international/cultural concepts and perspectives into your lessons as well. It is important that we help our students have a more diverse and cultural view, realizing their own place in this global society.
There will be a spring coaches meeting on Monday evening in the cafeteria, followed by coaches meeting with the athletes and parents to share sport-specific information as they prepare for the spring athletic season... but before that, we are still focused on the completion of our wither sports! Tonight we have several individual wrestlers competing in State.... best of luck to all of them! We will also be cheering out our wrestling team this week as they participate in the team state meet. Lots to be proud of!
This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, so we will be having an all school mass. Prayers for a contemplative and prayerful Lent.
Finally, College night will be held in the auditorium this Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm. Encourage your students (no matter what grade level) to check it out as they start to plan their futures! Thanks to Guidance for organizing this event.
Have a good week!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT EMAILS!
Mrs. Houk spoke with ST. Benedicts this past week and the plan is to have the email conversion from GMail to Outlook done by June 1st. In order to make the process go smoothly, all staff needs to begin cleaning out their email inbox and folders in your GMail account as much as possible. You need to delete any unnecessary emails and also download any attachments that you want to keep.
If you need any assistance or further directions, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Houk.
