Westridge Wildcat News
August 28, 2020
Message from the Principal
Dear Wildcat Families,
Staff returned to Westridge this week and we are all excited to see you at Supply and Device Drive-thru on Tuesday, 9/1 between 9 am and 3:30 pm at Westridge!
Supply and Device Drive-thru
We are preparing bags with school-issued devices (iPads for grades K-2 and Chromebooks for grades 3-5), books and materials for drive-thru pickup on Tuesday, September 1st.
Before arriving, families must complete The LOSD Student/Parental Consent & Technology Form -- one form for each student. If you arrive at the pickup without a form submitted, you will need to drive out of line to complete your form before returning to the line to pick up your school materials.
We now have an OPTIONAL technology device damage and loss protection plan for families. It is $20 per student, with a family maximum of $60. Please see losdschools.org for more details, including the LOSD FEE WAIVER available here.
9/1 - Supply and Device Drive-thru Schedule:
You are welcome to arrive at Westridge between 8am and 11am for families with last names A-K, and 11:30 - 3:30 for families with last name L-Z.
If you need internet access, please contact John Parke at parkej@loswego.k12.or.us to request a hotspot.
We are so excited to welcome new staff to Westridge this year! Please help us welcome our wonderful new educators.

Meet & Greet and Smart Start Meetings Now Virtual
We have a change in plans for our Meet and Greet and Smart Start meetings.
The latest ODE guidance does not allow us to host in-person meet and greet events at our schools, unfortunately. In particular, the requirement of no more than 250 people (students, parents, staff, etc) on campus in a week is a deal breaker. This guidance applies to events held inside and outside, so meetings on our fields or under the outside covered areas are not viable options.
Teachers will be reaching out with new information about virtual one-on-one meetings with students, and will send a link to schedule a time by Thursday, August 27th.
Distribution of devices, books and materials will happen on September 1st, as stated above, so students can have their materials before the start of school. If you do not have internet access, for a hotspot please contact John Parke parkej@loswego.k12.or.us.
Thank you again for your understanding as we navigate guidance for the safety, health and wellbeing of all in our learning community.
Smart Start
Smart Start
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Smart Start is on 9/2-9/4. We are excited that we have an opportunity to meet with your student before the school year starts. For those of you who are new to us, Smart Start is an opportunity specifically for our students with 504s and IEPs, and their parents and guardians, to make introductions with their teachers and to feel prepared for the start of school.
This year’s Smart Start meetings are all virtual and set up by appointment. You should have already received an email from your teacher to schedule your Meet and Greet virtual meeting.
Teachers will be familiar with your student’s accommodations from the file given to them from your case manager. Please complete this one page document and either email it to your teacher in advance or bring it with you to your virtual meeting.
We are excited to get to know your student and you!

Updated School Calendar
District Information - Verify Student Info Before Returning to School
Verify Student Info Before Returning to School
LOSD thanks all the parents who have already verified their students' information for the 2020-21 school year. If you haven't done so yet, please to log into ParentVUE and review/update your students' information through the Register/Verify tab. This benefits both families and schools by:
- Ensuring that schools have accurate information to reach parents and other contacts in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Verification is important even if your contact information has not changed over the past year because the school may have incorrect information from a previous year.
- Allowing parents to review the health conditions on file at your student's school.
- Enabling distribution of electronic devices covered by the district's Technology Agreement
The verification window closes September 18, 2020.
