MAY: THE MONTH OF MARY
“Mary is not only the bridge joining us to God; she is more. She is the road that God travelled to reach us, and the road that we must travel in order to reach Him.” Pope Francis
Virtue for May: Acceptance
God wants us to make friends with everyone no matter how different they may look or act..
An accepting person is…
willing to treat everybody as a member of a group
non-judgmental
welcoming to those different than himself/herself
loving and happy with who he/she is

2022 Aerial Spray Program: City of Mississauga
The spray will treat areas of Mississauga predicted to see severe leaf loss from caterpillar feedings. The area is roughly 2,100 hectares (5,189 acres) of private and public land in Wards 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11.
Highly trained spray specialists contracted by the City will use a helicopter, with all activities monitored by the project team. All necessary safety precautions are taken to ensure minimal risk to the public and the applicators.
Leaf size, caterpillar size and weather conditions will determine exact spray dates. Applications can occur any day of the week, including weekends. Application is weather dependent and the proper wind conditions are needed. Ideal application conditions consist of:
- calm winds
- no precipitation within for 24 to 48 hours
- high humidity
Each area will be sprayed twice, with the applications done approximately 7-10 days apart.
The City will be monitoring conditions during the spray window and will provide confirmation of the spray dates 48 hours in advance. Spray dates can be cancelled if the conditions change.
A communication will be issued by the City to the public 48 hours before each treatment. Up-to-date information will be provided through various communications channels listed in the How can I stay informed? section below.
Please note, St. Christopher School is within the area of the scheduled spray. Please note, St. Christopher School is adjacent or within 250 m of the spray area.

OCSGE Exit Survey: Grades 4 & 8 Students
Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) strives to provide an enriching environment that nurtures well-being, learning and achievement for all students. Student development is modelled by the seven Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations (OCSGEs) which include:
- A discerning believer;
- An effective communicator
- A reflective, creative, holistic thinker;
- A Self-directed, responsible, lifelong learner;
- A collaborative contributor;
- A caring family member;
- A responsible citizen
To assess student attainment of the OCSGEs, graduating students are asked to participate in the OCSGE Exit survey on a yearly basis. The survey is administered to students in Grades 4 & 8. All participating students complete the survey online during class time and are asked to give feedback about their overall DPCDSB school experience. For students in Grades 8 there will be additional questions required from the Ministry of Education. The OCSGE Exit survey will take place from May 16, 2022 through June 15, 2022 and takes between 15-25 minutes. A link will be provided for students to complete the survey. The survey is voluntary and confidential, but not anonymous as student’s will be asked to provide their names and student numbers.
If you have questions or concerns, or would like more information please contact the school. A copy of the parent communication letter is attached here for your reference.

Kiss & Ride Reminders
1) Please do not reverse your vehicle while in the Kiss and Ride zone. Children may be crossing behind you using the crosswalk. Be patient.
2) Drive slowly through the Kiss and Ride. We do try to give preference to the buses when leaving in order for them to maintain their morning schedules so please wait at the cross walk until you are directed to cross.
3) Students are reminded not to bounce sporting equipment such as basketballs while walking through the cross walk. Students need reminders that if a ball falls from their grasp, not to chase after it. An adult can help them retrieve it.
4) There is a bike path for students coming in on their bikes, on the south side of the church. Please use this path, and WALK your bike to the bike rack area, as the path is shared with walking pedestrians.
5)Parents and students are strongly encouraged to use the cross-walk instead of crossing in front of the kiss and ride.
6)The parking spaces adjacent to the church, near the cross walk, will be off limits to vehicles for parking. The crosswalk area can become crowded at times and we would like to maintain a clear sight line between children entering and exiting the school grounds.

Kindergarten Registration
ARE YOU MOVING?
As planning will begin with respect to formulating classes and general school organization for the 2022-2023 school year, please inform the office as soon as possible if you are planning to move between now and September 2022. Also, if you have already moved and not informed the office of your new address, please do so immediately as our school records must be accurate at all times.
Direction of School Support
By directing your tax support to the Separate (Catholic) School System:
- You may vote for Catholic School Trustees in Municipal elections
- Your children may attend Catholic elementary schools
- You show your support for the Catholic school system
To verify that you are registered as an English Separate (Catholic) school supporter:
- Check the assessment section of your Tax Bill or Property Assessment Notice
- Check your Voter Information Card received during an election year (2022)
Have you moved?
Even if you have been an English Separate (Catholic) School Supporter in the past, the designation DOES NOT follow you when you relocate. By default, your property taxes support your municipality's English public school board. Every time you move or if there is a change of ownership, it is essential that you register yourself as an English Separate (Catholic) school supporter.
To register as an English Separate (Catholic) School Supporter or change your Direction of School Support, please contact the DPCDSB Admissions Department by phone at 905-890-0708 ext. 24512 or by email at admissions@dpcdsb.org.
