Mr. Aragón's AP Spanish Language Classes
Ms. Jones' French 1 classes
Ms. Corley's Spanish II Classes
Ms. Chiquito's Navajo Classes
Students at four APS high school are learning Diné, the language of the Navajo Nation. The classes, which link the language to its culture, are taught at West Mesa High, Del Norte High, Atrisco Heritage Academy and the Career Enrichment Center and taught by teachers from the APS Indian Education Department.
Congratulations to four of our very own WMHS STUDENTS that were a part of the NATIONAL J.O.M. conference held here in ABQ. at the Marriott Hotel Pyramid. Three seniors said the Pledge in Navajo; they were Xavier Jimenez, Tristen Lente, and Riane Silago and one junior, Shandiin Begay, sang the National Anthem in Navajo. They were a great representation of APS. This conference is how the Native American People across the U.S.A get founded from the Government for Native American Education.

Spanish II has been reviewing the verbs "ser", "tener" and "gustar" to talk about themselves and others. They are currently creating a "blog" written in Spanish, which they will present to the class.
Spanish Language Arts I has been working hard learning geographical terms and creating PowerPoint presentations about certain cities within a Spanish speaking country. Each student will research a city within a Spanish speaking country to present to the class. This presentation will not only represent the culture within the city, but also the geographical locations and historical sites.
