Principal's Update
It has been a busy couple of weeks! We are completely packed up and waiting to be moved! Staff worked so hard the week of May 4-8 to get everything boxed and put on pallets waiting for our move to our temporary home. Next year we will be housed at the current James Sales - 11213 Sheridan Ave. S. In the next few weeks the district will move us to our new home, 'decommission' the current Brookdale, and remove the portables on the east side of the building for use at a different location in the district! It is an exciting time, although somewhat bittersweet that we weren't able to give the old Brookdale a proper send-off. We'll just have to make the opening of the new school that much sweeter!!
It is hard to believe that we are now in the 10th week of distance learning! Thank you for everything you are doing to support your students in this process! And, thank you to the teachers and support staff who are making it all possible! In the next couple of weeks, you will be invited to participate in an end of the year conference with your child's/children's teacher (some of you may have already heard from staff.) This will be an opportunity for you to hear about the learning that has happened - both in person and online. I encourage you to make every effort to attend these conferences!
We are also at the time of the year when staff will begin the important task of placing students in classrooms for next year. If you wish to request special placement of your child, please email the principal - cholman@fpschools.org - by Friday, May 31. The request must have your child's current teacher’s name, the name of the requested teacher, as well as the reason why your student will do best in the requested classroom - NO VERBAL REQUESTS WILL BE CONSIDERED. Requests will be considered on the basis of what is best for each child and the learning environment of the group. We may not be able to accommodate all requests, but they will be given careful, thoughtful consideration.
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
There will be no school on Friday, May 22 and Monday, May 25. This week is a four day week of learning and a four day weekend in honor of Memorial Day. We hope this time will offer a well deserved break from online learning and an opportunity to thank and celebrate those who have sacrificed so much on our behalf.

RELEASES
If you are attending Brookdale on an out of area release you will be getting a letter this week explaining how to re-apply for next year. Please remember Friday, May 29th is the deadline for all releases to be submitted to have your children considered for placement at Brookdale next year.
Out of District – Students who live outside of the Franklin Pierce Schools boundaries, and are currently attending, will be considered for re-enrollment upon receipt of a school choice transfer/Release of attendance from the school district in which you reside.
With-In-District – If you are attending Brookdale on a release from one of the other elementary schools in our district, the online release must be completed by May 27 to hold a spot for your child for next year.
Overload students – If your child is currently enrolled at Brookdale on overload from another school in our district, you must enroll as soon as possible in your home school. This ensures that your child will be included in their spring placement process. Please remember that your child will be withdrawn from Brookdale at the end of the year.
If your children will not be attending our school next year or if you have any questions about this process, please contact Cindy Yant at 298-3100.
