Overview
Thesis Statement
Your paper must have a clear thesis statement in the first paragraph. A thesis statement presents what it is you will prove in your letter. A thesis is a statement of belief that you will back up with factual evidence, statistics, and examples from your research.
Not a thesis statement: The history of basketball
Thesis statement: Basketball provides the best aerobic activity of all team sports.
Paragraph Components
- Paragraph 1: Introduction
- Paragraph 2: Supporting Evidence
- Paragraph 3: Supporting Evidence
- Paragraph 4: Supporting Evidence

Sources
- You must use a minimum of four sources
- You must use at least one subscription database
Parenthetical Citation
You do not need parenthetical citation when stating your own ideas, opinions, or analysis, or when using a common knowledge fact.
Quotes
You must use at least four quotes.
The quotes should be smoothly incorporated into your paragraphs and thoroughly explained. Make sure to show how the quotes support your thesis.
Don't forget that quotes require parenthetical citation.
Citation
- All sources must be cited in EasyBib
- Add all your citations to the same project. This will make your bibliography easier to export at the end.
- CITE AS YOU GO ALONG
- When you have all your citations done export your bibliography to Google Drive and then copy and paste and add to the end of your paper.

Your heading should be aligned to the left:

- Is your thesis clearly stated in your introductory paragraph?

- Did you remember to use parenthetical citation?
- Did you remember to add your bibliography as the final page of your paper?
- Do you have your headings on the left-hand side of your paper?
- Is your paper in Times New Roman font, size 12, double spaced?
- Did you check your rubric to make sure you're not forgetting anything else?
