Friday Focus
Welcome to the DUNLAP GRADE SCHOOL’S Friday Focus
Great Things I've Noticed This Week
- Nancy and her husband joined Brett and I to finish off the Riverbed Playscape outside. It's been a joy to see students hopping and jumping from each stump as they interact with the natural elements of the area. We will be adding two science observation tables to the area as well as a series of "Small Worlds" in which the tires will be filled with natural materials and toys that students can play with (See the picture below as examples). We will be adding an additional Little Free Library to this area as well for students to access during recess. If you have additional ideas for the space, let me know!

Report Cards and Conferences Update
- Report Cards are to go home at conference time. Please have all grades entered by Tuesday, October 17th. This will give Lisa enough time to run copies on Wednesday. PARCC reports will go home with 4th and 5th grade students at report card time. There will be a letter attached. Please review this infomation and be prepared to answer any questions.
- Progress Monitoring data charts should also go home with report cards if applicable.
- Conferences are a time to build relationships with parents and families. Whereas you may need to discuss concerns about students, it is important that conferences are also a positive experience and that you highlight individual strengths and successes of students.
- All students should participate in their conferences in some way to showcase their learning.
- If there are specific conferences you need me to attend, please let me know ASAP. I am happy to sit in on any of them.
- Parent's Club will be providing a light dinner on Thursday (Deli Sandwich Bar) and Grab and Go Breakfast treats (muffins, cereal bars, ect.) on Friday.

Teddy Time Update
If you are wanting to schedule time with Gladys to visit with Teddy and students in your room, please sign up on the google doc here
She is flexible and can add times or adjust based on your schedules. Just ask.
Teddy is still just a puppy and will continue extensive training and socialization as he becomes a fully-trained service dog. Once he completes the training, he will be at DGS full time. We are expecting this to take another 6 months or so.

Referrals
Discipline Referrals:
Please remember that for a student to be referred to the office, a referral needs to be completed before they come. You can do that with the paper form or using the referral form on google. I've linked both the positive office referral and discipline referrals below. This information is all tracked and will be shared with the ILT at our next meeting.
Positive Office Referrals:
I also encourage you to complete positive office referrals. It is important for our school culture to recognize students with their exemplary behavior, performance, and skills when they have gone above and beyond. I've received only 2 this year. As an instructional leadership team, we encourage you to attempt to submit two per month.
