Weekly Update OCTOBER 28, 2022
Bus Driver Shortage Hits Home
Disruption to Bus Routes
Similar to many school districts around the area, Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools is facing a bus driver shortage. We are aware that some routes have been off-schedule over the past several weeks.
We want to thank all of our families for their patience and grace as our bus drivers are working hard to cover routes and double-up on routes so that our students can be transported to and from school safely. We understand that this can be frustrating and a disruption to a family’s schedule, so thank you for allowing us the time to work through this situation. As we are working through this, we are making every effort to communicate about a delayed bus via email to parents.
Additionally, due to splitting and doubling-up on routes, the Here Comes the Bus app may not be accurate at times for your child’s route.
GJPS is working through several action steps to increase our amount of available bus drivers. The district is continuing to work on solving this situation so that it will no longer cause inconvenience to our families.

Are you or someone you know looking for a rewarding job with PAID training? GJPS is NOW hiring bus drivers and would love for you to apply TODAY!

City of Gahanna Sustainability Survey
Over the past year, the City of Gahanna has been working on developing its very first Sustainability Plan, which will identify opportunities to incorporate “green” initiatives into multiple aspects of the City. Several months ago, the City applied for and was awarded a grant through MORPC, which partnered them with The Ohio State University to assist in finalizing the plan.
As part of this partnership, OSU students are expanding upon the initial draft of the City’s Plan, but they need your help! Please consider filling out the Gahanna Public Engagement Response Survey on topics such as planning, zoning, public service, economic development, and parks and recreation. The entire survey should take four minutes or less to complete.
Thank you in advance for sharing your ideas!
Royal Manor Elementary
Recently, some readers at Royal Manor were treated with a visit from S.R.D. Harris, a local children’s author. She visited and read the students her new book, Ted Never Wants to Go to Bed, and she and the students had a pajama party to celebrate the visit. The students were then presented with their own copy of the book.
