April was National Poetry Month
To end National Poetry month (April) and celebrate National Poem in Your Pocket Day (April 30), here's my favorite Shel Silverstein poem - Listen to the Mustn'ts I shared with my students in our Google Classroom. What poem would you choose to keep in your pocket to make you smile, warm your heart, or inspire greatness?
Read Alouds or Gift Books for Grads
Know a graduate? Whether being promoted from kindergarten, leaving elementary school as a rising sixth-grader, stepping into high school next year as a freshman, or graduating high school, moving on to the next chapter can be filled with mixed emotions - excitement tinged with sadness. In these transitional times, books can offer us the best advice as we prepare to tackle the next phase. Here are some alternatives to the often-gifted Oh, the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss. Perhaps one will make the perfect gift for the graduate in your life, or the perfect read aloud to end the school year with your class. Download the clickable pdf here.

School Nurse Appreciation Day - May 6
Don't forget to show your love to your school nurse! Last week we read, The School Nurse from the Black Lagoon and drew pictures and wrote notes to our school nurses that I'll deliver to them on Wednesday. Healthcare workers are on all our minds now more than ever. Be sure to give some love to the nurse in your building who encourages hand washing and other healthy habits all year long.
