What was the change?
Who were the people associated with the change?
Galileo Galilei
Galileo Galilei builted on new theories. He made his new telescope and made many discoveries that changed previous theories by other scientists. Galileo made the discovery that Jupiter has four moons orbiting. He also discovered and brought out that the sun has dark spots that went against Aristotle's theory. That was also contributions from Copernicus. Galileo did not have a good relationship with the church and the church warned him , Galileo chose not to pay attention. Therefore he went to trial on 1633 . Galileo was tortured and he was forced to sign that his theories were wrong and Aristotle was right. After that Galileo was not a free man, but was in house arrest for the rest of his years.
Nicolaus Copernicus
Johannes Kepler
Johannes Kepler was a German mathematician. he was the assistant of Tycho Brahe and after his death he continued with Brahe's work which proved that Copernicus theory was right. He proved it to be true by using mathematical explanations about the topic. He said there were elliptical orbits instead of circular orbits. Kepler was a major piece to the truth of the Heliocentric theory made by Copernicus.
Isaac Newton
How did the change impact society at the time?
During this period this was a major thing that impacted many people. In this time many believed in whatever the church had taught them and they believed it not knowing if it was correct. To many people thought this was a lie because for there whole life they were taught theories that seemed to be true and then someone comes and says there not. Also this brought problems to the church because people began challenging the church because of there errors in teaching to the population. Due to this many other theories were put in doubt and science began thriving up.
How is that change evidenced in today's modern society?
The scientific revolution had a big impact on todays society and our new discoveries. This was the base for the new society that was building. For instance, due to this we now have much more technology such as the computer since the idea came from the printing press and other old technology. Also, because of this we now know that the sun is the center and not the earth. The microscope is also something that changed throughout time but began when Galileo made it to prove his theories. The scientific revolution brought many reasonable theories that are now used today to explain everyday actions. For example that gravity pulls us down. This was the beginning of a scientific world that will never end.
