Memorial Day Observance
As we go into the weekend, please take the time to remember the fallen military members who gave their lives while serving for our freedom.
Expectations Update
- A navy blue, white, or gray collared shirt must be visible under the hoodie, sweatshirt, or jacket. We will NOT provide uniform items. If students are not in dress code, parents will be called and asked to bring the item.
- Cell phones should not been seen or in use after 8:15 am for high school students. Middle schools students should turn their phones off and put away when they enter the building.
- No electronic devices should be seen in the hallways during transitions. This includes cell phones, headphones, earbuds, etc.
- ALL students should be in their classes, ready to learn, when the bell rings.
- Due to the weather, we are seeing a large number of students wearing hoods, hats, toboggans, and scarves in the building. Upon entering the building, all headgear must be removed.
- Scarves of any color are no longer permitted as of 1/10/2022. Students can wear headbands, but the colors will have to reflect our school colors (white, gray, or navy blue).
- Pants should be worn up around their waist with shirt tails tucked.
- If they choose to wear their jackets/hoodies/sweatshirts for the entire day, it will need to be white, gray, or navy blue and the logo can not be larger than the size of a quarter. If not, they will need to place them in their lockers.
End of Year Technology Reminders

Dear Parents and Students,
Please read all of the information in this letter carefully to understand School District Five’s end of year procedures for district devices.
Students in grades K-12 returning to any D5 school for 2022-23 will keep their district issued device over the summer. If the device is damaged during the summer, students should complete the Chromebook Repair Form for their current school.
Graduating Seniors and students moving out of District 5 must turn in device, case, and charger* according to the collection schedule on page 2 of this letter or a bill will be sent for the full replacement price. *Chargers must be an appropriate charger for the device.
Per District Mobile Device Agreement, the district will cover one (1) accidental damage incident during the 2021-2022 school year (August 1, 2021 - July 31, 2022). In order to be considered for 2021-2022 coverage, incidents should be reported via the school’s Chromebook Repair Form by July 31, 2022. Any accidental damage reported after this date will be classified as part of the 2022-2023 school term.
If the device currently has any issues or damages, please do not wait until the end of the year or collection time to notify the school’s help desk. During collection, the device will be evaluated for damages and the student will be billed accordingly.
Possible charges:
Device - up to $300
Case - up to $35
Charger - up to $40 (missing, damaged or incorrect charger)
Damaged devices will be reviewed by the Technology Services Department. Parents will be notified if charges are necessary.
Costs are assessed based on replacement price which is dependent on age and model of device and charger.
D5 Technology Services will remotely disable any devices not turned in by the deadline and a bill for the full replacement value will be sent.
TURN IN PROCEDURES AND SCHEDULE
Before turning in the device, charger, and case, students need to do the following:

Clean the screen with a soft, dry antistatic, or microfiber cloth.
Do not use window cleaner or any type of liquid on the device without adult supervision.
You may use packaged pre-moistened eyeglass lens cleaning tissues to clean the screen.
Make sure all personal stickers are removed.

If you are leaving the district you can save your files for your personal use (see Google Slide).
Charge the device to at least 60%.
Wrap the charger cable and secure it with a Velcro tie or rubber band.
Location: Devices, chargers, and cases will be collected at the Academy for Success in Room D206 ( Ms. Gallman’s room). Devices not turned in will be disabled no later than June 6, 2022. Seniors if you need your device for a longer period, please let me or Mrs. Brand know asap.
Devices, chargers and cases will only be collected during the times listed below.
When your device is turned in you will be given an invoice. Please keep this invoice in a safe place just in case it is needed.
Reminders for Students Returning to D5 Next Year
You will be using the same Chromebook, charger and case next year.
You are responsible for the care of your device.
All students must comply at all times with School District 5 of Lexington and Richland Counties Mobile Device Guide for Parents and Students and the Acceptable Use Agreement.
If your device is currently broken (screen cracked, key missing, etc.), you should take it to the school help desk (library) to be repaired.
If your device is broken over the summer, complete the AFS Chromebook Repair Form. District Technology will repair the device so it is ready for back to school.
You should bring your updated and charged device in its case on the first day of school.

StopIt App
The STOPit app is a communications tool that allows students and staff to quickly and anonymously report urgent information to school officials. It provides students and staff in the district with the means to submit anonymous reports to school and district officials using Smartphones or district-issued student Chromebooks. Students can also upload or attach photos, texts, or video from their Smartphone or device. All reports remain anonymous, although senders and administrators can communicate back and forth through the app. Administrators manage reports in a backend management system called STOPit Admin, which allows issues to be handled instantly.
You can download the app and create your message. The Password for STOPit is: WolfPack.
Afternoon Dismissal Traffic Flow Transition
Please adhere to the following:
- Car riders will exit the building through the back doors.
- All cars should park behind the buses along the side walk. Do not block the entrance lanes.
- Do not pass the buses, please be patient and wait for them to exit the lot.
