A Message From Principal Choquette 8/31/18

Good afternoon. I don't usually send out a weekly on the first Friday, but we had such a great start to the year yesterday, I thought it would be nice to do one.

Thank you so much to all of the faculty and staff who worked hard all summer to get our school ready for yesterday. I always feel like a kid at Christmas on the first day of school, it is so exciting for me to welcome everyone back. I am truly blessed to be working with such wonderful educators, families, and of course students.

I would like to officially welcome Elizabeth Byl as our new fourth grade teacher. She is no longer a long-term sub and has been hire as the new teacher. Welcome "Miss Liz." I'd also like to announce that Miss Nora is the new head teacher. Miss Nora will now be acting principal when I am out of the building. Congratulations Miss Nora and thank to our former head teacher, Mrs. Carol Ruyffelaert for her service as head teacher over the past few years.

Next week we will welcome our youngest of students, our preschoolers and kindergarteners. Our first family dinner will be for our kindergarten families on Thursday, September 6th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. We hope all kindergarten families can join us for some food and time to get to know each other.

Students are not allowed to go out the double playground doors without a signed permission slip that they are have parental permission to be unsupervised.

Bus students- to bus loop

Van students- to the vans (Union Street side of the building)

Walkers/Unsupervised students- double doors to the big playground

Parent/Caregiver Pick-up to the fence by the kindergarten playground

Update on Library Renovation

As with most construction projects, things get delayed. Originally our flooring was supposed to be installed the week of Sept. 3rd, but now it's been pushed back to mid-late September. The library will be closed indefinitely until the library renovation is complete. Mrs. Richards will either hold library classes in the classroom or in her temporary location in the building (Jen Busone's former room). We will keep you posted as we make progress.

At this time, students will not be able to check-out books as all 10,000+ books are all packed in boxes!

Thank you for your patience. We can't wait for the big reveal!

BASE After School Program

B.A.S.E. will be offering an orientation week Tuesday September the 4th through Friday the 7th. Come meet some of the teachers, hear about B.A.S.E. expectations, mingle with new friends, and have some fun at 1/2 the daily rate! Regular B.A.S.E. classes will start the following week, Monday the 10th, with late enrollment, at a pro-rated cost, until the 14th. Look for hard copies of the registration packet and class offerings in backpacks today or tomorrow. We have lots of new options!!! Email with questions.

Family Dinners

We hope you can all join us this year for our annual family dinners. It is a wonderful opportunity for families to meet their teachers and to mingle with each other. There will be food and all family dinners are in the cafeteria from 5:30-7:00 pm. Hope to see you all there!
