Stonehenge, have you been there, do you know what it is or where it's located? If you don't and even if you do, let me tell you all about it.
Stonehenge is a national monument that has big rocks set up in some sort of circular pattern. It may look like just a whole bunch of stones in a random area but that's not completely correct. It is a prehistoric monument located in Wiltshire, England about 2 miles west of Amesbury and 8 miles north of Salisbury. It is a very famous and one of the most well known monuments in the entire world.(Stonehenge.co.uk, history, about Stonehenge) Stonehenge is the remains of a ring of standing stones set within earthworks.(English-heritage)
It was examined by many groups of archaeologists and figured it to be built anywhere from 3000 bc to 2000 bc. The first stones were likely to be raised around 2400 and 2200 bc. It was also likely to be a burial ground from its earliest beginnings.(history.com/Stonehenge) When it was, they continued to deposit cremated remains there for about 500 years.
The site of Stonehenge is owned by " the Crown" and is managed by English Heritage, but the land surrounding Stonehenge is owned by the National Trust.(English-heritage)
So over all, the national monument, "Stonehenge", is a very well known monument that attracts many people all around the world and is a very great place to visit if you've never been before.
