Message from the Principal
Dear Parents
Carpark Project
Just thought I would update you on the carpark progress! As you can see, lots has been happening and even the bad weather has not impeded the current works. Last week, lighting was commissioned in the carpark and it looks great – such a lovely ambient glow to them in the evening. The primer seal has been happening and we look ready for a tentative asphalting date of either this Friday or next Tuesday (weather permitting). Foot paths and kerbing has commenced and all is looking wonderful. Landscaping has already started and we look forward to seeing some new planting of lawn and greenery in this area. Guard rails around the limestone wall should shortly be completed and very soon the removal of temporary fencing will bring the place back to life!
It will be wonderful to finally have our site back and learning how to keep the carpark flowing will be our new challenge! Something great to look forward to in the weeks to come.
Art Mural
Integral to the carpark project is an Art Mural which has been designed by Perth artist, illustrator and designer Chris Nixon and will be painted on the carpark wall facing Albion Park. Chris has been inspired by the balance in nature and urban design. Prior to working on the wall, Chris will workshop some techniques, design elements and use of space with two groups of senior students interested in art.
Process and community engagement is very important in this project and Chris will happily interact with parents, staff and students throughout his time painting on the walls, so please make sure you pop down to follow the journey once artworks begin.
At this point, we have been delayed by the weather but are hoping to be up and running for about five days from 18 June 2018.
Farewell
As this is my last week of school prior to taking Long Service Leave, I take this opportunity of wishing Mr Andrew De Maio all the best of luck as he assumes Principal duties during this time. I know Andrew will be well supported by the community, together with Mrs Cath Hughes and Mr Geoff Clarke, who will take on the Assistant Principal role.
In looking at the school calendar, there are still many exciting things happening in the school from sporting events, to dance, to music and to all the wonderful learning in between. Please take up the opportunity to walk through your children’s learning and celebrate with them during their Learning Journey later this term. I believe we are very blessed to have such a vibrant school, with our community working together to provide faith in action, growth of ideas & innovation and promoting excellence in all we do.
TO ALL STAFF, STUDENTS AND PARENTS, I WISH YOU WELL FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TERM AND LOOK FORWARD TO RETURNING ON MONDAY 30TH JULY, 2018.
Many blessings
Tamara McGougan
Principal

WCPS Biggest Morning Tea
Once again our PEACE Reps are getting together to put on our very own BMT. This will take place Friday 8 June at the Parish Hall 8.30am - 10am.
We love the opportunity of getting together as a whole community so drop in for a cuppa and cake, bring grandparents, aunties, uncles and the kiddies will have a little play area too. Donations can be made at the door and any keen bakers or shoppers can donate a treat - just let your PEACE Rep know. Huge thanks for supporting this cause.
Vincent's Project for the Homeless
WCPS is proud to support former student Vincent Pettinicchio as he continues his project for the homeless. Since 2013 the WCPS community has helped Vincent provide the homeless of Perth with 4,075 bags full of toiletries and comfort items. Last year, the packs made were donated to 23 charities and community groups. These diverse groups show how much need there is in our city and how the gesture of giving someone a bag essential items can make such a difference to someone in need.
This year Vincent has asked the WCPS community to collect bars of soap. There will be a basket in each year level to drop the bars of soap in. These baskets will then be collected on Thursday June 14. Vincent's target this year is 1,500-2,000 packs.
