The Know-whats and Know-hows at Estacada Middle School
EMS Students Attend Engineering Expo at Oregon State University
Last week, our Estacada Middle School students traveled to Oregon State University for an Engineering event. This trip allowed students to broaden their scope and understanding what what engineering opportunities exist for students. Be proud of Mr. Hoefert and Mr. Kirchhofer for organizing this trip. And, a huge "Thank You" to our parent chaperones who attended, too. We are #roaring4esd108 at EMS. Go Tigers!

STEM Night
Your student's Science Inquiry Project will be displayed and presented during our First ever STEM Night at Estacada Middle School on Thursday, May 31. At this event, students and families can participate in a variety of science and engineering related activities. Participation prizes can be won! And, we will be participating in a dissection if you are interested. Go Tigers!

Correction: After School Clubs End on 5/29
Our first day back after Memorial Day will be the last day after school bus transportation will be available. There will be no other district provided bussing for after school activities after 5/29/18. Regular AM Pick-up and PM Drop off will continue on a normal schedule. Thank you for participating in after school clubs and organizations this year. Let's continue to build our programs next year, too. Go Tigers!
6th Grade Transition Night
Ms. Wexler addressed families who attended this year's 6th Grade Transition Night last week. We were happy to see more than half of all incoming 6th graders attend this year's event. Go Tigers!
Welcome All Incoming 6th Graders
A huge "Thank You" to Mr. Salas and Mr. Price for hanging this sign welcoming all incoming 6th graders to EMS. We are looking forward to a great school year in 2018-2019 with improved student academic and social-emotional outcomes!
Music Concert: June 7
Join us on June 7 in the Auditorium from 7:00pm to 8:00pm to celebrate the growth of our Band and Choir students. We are proud of our future students and are looking forward to a great performance. Thank you to Mr. Hordichok, Linda, and our wonderful students. Go Tigers!
Yearbook Update!
Limited additional EMS '17-'18 yearbooks for sale!
There are 18 soft cover ($25) and 6 hard cover ($29.50) additional 2017-2018 yearbooks for sale. These will be sold on a first-come and paid basis. Please bring cash or checks, made out to EMS, to Bayley in the office. Yearbooks will be distributed during the last week of school.
Any other students who have already ordered their yearbooks will be given the yearbook on Monday, June 11. Go Tigers!
Sidewalk Project Update
Starting on June 4, the sidewalk in front of EMS will undergo construction. This project will create a safer walk for students and community members to access the schools and other community resources around the area. We are thankful for this improvement project! Please view the image to the left and the image below for further information. Bus drop off and pick up will only be impacted slightly: Drop off and pick up zones will change according to where the sidewalk is being constructed on any given day.
Characteristics of a Successful Learner Standards and Final Grades
At the end of each semester, your student will be evaluated on the Characteristics of a Successful Learner. Please view the image below to read what indicators our teachers use to measure your student's characteristics. Please reach out to me if you have any questions. The next round of progress reports will be sent out this Friday, June 1. And, final grades will be posted by June 18. Go Tigers!

Thank you to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Earlier this year, Mrs. Juker's Service Learning and Leadership classes helped support a Pennies for Patients drive in which our school collected nearly $730. Wow! We have amazing students here at EMS. Recently, though, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society sent us a "Thank You" letter. We appreciate their partnership and willingness to let our students do something special for others. Go Tigers!
8th Grade Boys Summer Basketball Tryouts
