Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori 2021 - Māori Language Week 2021

Stanley Avenue School - Maori Language Week 2021

Room 7 Kotahitanga

Room 7 has been doing a unit on Kotahitanga - Unity. We began this unit by looking at our heritage and family history. We talked about where our ancestors have come from in the world and saw how a lot of us have ancestry in areas of the world and cultures in common. We then moved into a discussion about respecting other cultures and valuing differences in our multi-cultural society. We made "Be Kind" poems in response to this. Next week we are going to do some screen prints of Sybille Schlumbom's art piece (the circle with the line underneath). This artwork will be on display at Hamilton Museum as a part of the Kotahitanga exhibition. This exhibition is in response to the Covid-19 message of 'Be Kind' and the "Black Lives Matter movement". We hope that Level 1 will open up soon so families can come and see what we have created.

We have lots of lost Property!!!

Oh my Gosh!!! As the weather gets a bit warmer, we have piles of jerseys, jackets and many other items in our Lost Property. Please come to the office if your child has lost something and have a look.

Also, please remember to name your child's uniform. This makes it much easier to return an item to the rightful owner if it is named!!!

Hats - Potae

In line with our sun shade policy, hats are compulsory during Terms 1 and 4.

Students without hats during break and lunchtime will be asked to remain in a designated shaded area.

Hats can be purchased from the Uniform Room or the School Office for $12.

First Credit Union Banking will restart in Term 4

First Credit Union offers a School Banking service to schools. This will restart in Term 4 for our students who currently have accounts.

If you wish for your child to take part, they can collect a starter pack from Mrs Hayes at the school office, which contains an application form that you can fill out and return. Banking will be collected from the school on the Thursday of each week.

First Credit Union will monitor the situation and be in touch with us when the time is right, to confirm a start date.
